 The frigid air lays over the earth as a blanket covering everything beneath it. The wind gently blows the bulrushes back and forth, its as if thousands of eyes are watching reacting to your every action. The ice on the lake is firm like a cement floor preventing anything from penetrating beneath it. The wind has blown the ice smooth as if it were a hand blown glass vase. Your skates cut into the ice creating a sound ones ears dance to. The puck glides as if it were floating. As you turn snow flies from your skates. A frozen pond, sensation paradise.

 In this article the point is brought up that people may forget what you said and what you did but they will not forget how you made them feel. That point is very interesting and speaks to the fact that if you can make someone feel a certain way then you have the potential to leave a lasting impression on them To often we think we are communicating effectively but we need to find common ground and look for a way to make people feel a certain way. Without this the information we are sending is likely not being retained. Corporations have realized this and that is why they are using science. There are five main principles discussed that help retain information. Joining the community, communicate in images, invoke emotion, creating a call to action and telling better stories. When James told us to write using imagery I felt like a lost kid in a grocery store. Is this a business class or English class? I thought I was done with writing courses but I was mistaken. For me being taught what style to write in is like being forced to eat my least favourite food.  I thought to myself what is imagery, how can I paint a picture in someone’s head, I may have never met. Then I remember I lived in Winnipeg and imagery is describing every detail, so the reader has no choice but to relate and see the picture you painted.   The only thing I could think about was how cold it was outside. You start your car and see that dreaded thin layer of ice covering the windshield. Your breath turns white on every exhale as it meets the crisp air.  Being a Winnipeger you didn’t wear gloves because its only -20 today, a mild winter day.
