The Science of what makes people care

In this article the point is brought up that people may forget what you said and what you did but they will not forget how you made them feel. That point is very interesting and speaks to the fact that if you can make someone feel a certain way then you have the potential to leave a lasting impression on them

To often we think we are communicating effectively but we need to find common ground and look for a way to make people feel a certain way. Without this the information we are sending is likely not being retained. Corporations have realized this and that is why they are using science. There are five main principles discussed that help retain information. Joining the community, communicate in images, invoke emotion, creating a call to action and telling better stories. If you are able to use these principles to guide your cause, the likely hood of actually reaching people is greatly increased. I believe a call to action is the most import. People ever day are exposed to pleas for help, through charity ads on billboards or commercials. If you can make a meaningful call to action success margins and support rendered jumps immensely.

People are more likely to help and want to help causes that affect them and by having a convincing call to action.
