Imagery, how the mind works
When James told us to write using imagery I felt like a lost kid in a grocery store. Is this a business class or English class? I thought I was done with writing courses but I was mistaken. For me being taught what style to write in is like being forced to eat my least favourite food. I thought to myself what is imagery, how can I paint a picture in someone’s head, I may have never met. Then I remember I lived in Winnipeg and imagery is describing every detail, so the reader has no choice but to relate and see the picture you painted. The only thing I could think about was how cold it was outside. You start your car and see that dreaded thin layer of ice covering the windshield. Your breath turns white on every exhale as it meets the crisp air. Being a Winnipeger you didn’t wear gloves because its only -20 today, a mild winter day.
